About this piece

The Ridge Shelf Accent is a ledge that has given up on being useful in the usual way. It holds one thing. A single photograph, one small vessel, a stone brought back from somewhere.

That constraint is the point. A shelf that fits five objects will eventually hold nine. A shelf that fits one stays a place where you look rather than a place where things accumulate.

It prints over about 16 hours as a single cantilever, with the ridge underneath doing the structural work so the top surface can stay clean and uninterrupted. Because it is printed rather than joined, there is no bracket to see.
