A tabletop sculpture of a bonsai canopy in plant-based PLA. It is the longest print in the catalog at roughly 26 hours, and needs no water, light or care beyond dusting.
Reserving puts this piece on the print bed. We write to you when it leaves.
A bonsai is a tree kept deliberately small by decades of attention. This is the same idea in a different material: a canopy held still, printed in plant-based PLA over roughly 26 hours, and then sanded by hand where the branches meet.
The canopy is the hardest part to print and the reason the piece takes so long. Each layer of foliage is only supported by the layer beneath it, so the printer moves slowly and the studio checks it more than once.
It asks for nothing. No water, no window, no repotting. Dust it with a dry brush when it needs it and keep it out of a hot car or a sun-facing windowsill, and it will look the same in ten years.
Only dusting. It is solid plant-based PLA, so there is no watering, feeding or pruning. Keep it away from direct afternoon sun and closed cars, since PLA softens in sustained heat above roughly 55°C.
It spends the longest time on the print bed — about 26 hours — and the canopy needs the most hand-finishing. Price follows print time and finishing effort rather than size.
